Instructions for use Title Relationship Between Maximal Oxygen Uptake and Oxygenation Level in Inactive Muscle at Exhaustion in Incremental Exercise in Humans
نویسندگان
چکیده
The aim of the present study was to determine whether the oxygenation level in an inactive muscle during an incremental exercise test, determined by near-infrared spectroscopy, influences the maximal oxygen uptake (V . o 2 max). The oxygenation level at the onset of incremental exercise was higher than that at rest and started to decrease at a high power output. A minimal level was observed at exhaustion during incremental exercise. V . o 2 increased linearly after some delay, and the rate of increase in V . o 2 was greater at a higher power output. Heart rate increased linearly after the time delay, and the rate of increase in heart rate did not change. There was a significant correlation between V . o 2 max and oxygenation level in inactive muscle at exhaustion (r =-0.89). We therefore concluded that the oxygenation level in inactive muscle at exhaustion during incremental exercise is associated with an individual difference in V . o 2 max.

متن کاملEffect of Branched-Chain Amino Acid Supplementation on O2 Uptake Kinetics and Time to Exhaustion in Trained Women
Objective The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of Branched-Chain Amino Acid (BCAA) supplementation on O2 uptake kinetics and the time to exhaustion in trained women. Methods In this quasi-experimental study with pre-test/post-test design, participants were 20 trained women (Mean±SD age, 21.3±0.5 years). They were randomly assigned into two groups of BCAA (received 45mg/kg/d BCA...
متن کاملThe Relationship between the Isocapnic Buffering Phase and Ventilatory Threshold in Endurance Athletes and Team Sport Athletes during an Incremental Exercise Test
Background. There is sparse literature examining the ICB phase of aerobic- and anaerobic-trained athletes. Measurements of ICB phase values of athletes can help to evaluate the sport’s physiological demands and understand the physiological adaptations in response to physical training. Objectives. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between the isocapnic buffering (IC...

Background&Purpose: The aim of this study was to compare of maximal fat oxidation and the exercise intensity that elicit maximal fat oxidation (Fatmax) between active and inactive elderly men. Methodology: 10 healthy elderly men that had regular exercise (at least 10 past years, ,VO2max 44.6±4.5 ml.kg.min) and 10 healthy elderly men that hadn’t any regular exercise (at least 10 past years, VO2m...
متن کاملMuscle oxygenation profiles between active and inactive muscles with nitrate supplementation under hypoxic exercise
Whether dietary nitrate supplementation improves exercise performance or not is still controversial. While redistribution of sufficient oxygen from inactive to active muscles is essential for optimal exercise performance, no study investigated the effects of nitrate supplementation on muscle oxygenation profiles between active and inactive muscles. Nine healthy males performed 25 min of submaxi...
